they do look great ...Thank you glad you like them,

they do look great on the board and a Skaven army does have that worrying horde factor for an opponent, but with added flamethrowers! It's a bit like when I play (not often now) 40k with a Imperial Guard army and you just keep putting down more and more troops and watch the look horror on your opponents face.

The miniatures are lovely, nicely detailed and full of character. I wanted to get that 1980's look and feel to them and I think I have achieved it. It was an army I never collected at the time, and so I am glad to have done it now. :) Goblin Leehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14931436821182962785noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4266200265116124990.post-63768936063630684792014-12-02T08:08:11.673+00:002014-12-02T08:08:11.673+00:00Great job Lee once again! You've done well in recreating a 1980's feel. Funny, once I saw that banner this morning I instantly thought of Down In The Sewer and it was stuck in my head. I had to play it at work after that. I considered using that army General too, but although I made sure I had that miniature in my army I used him as a regiment leader instead. Something about the way he is waving the spear above his head seems very Skaven (and like the Sand People from Star Wars).

I opted for the one with the Warp Pistol as I liked the model and it was one of only a few Skaven I bought in the 1980's. You're right, a lot of the Skaven hero miniatures do stand out but without being too over the top.

I listened to a lot of Stranglers when painting this army, and everytime I look at them my mind plays 'Down in the Sewer'! :) Goblin Leehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14931436821182962785noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4266200265116124990.post-47100474583136404572014-12-01T08:42:45.997+00:002014-12-01T08:42:45.997+00:00What an impressive horde! The purple seemed to fit, so I heavily drybrushed GW's Xereus Purple over the brown base coat, to allow that dirtiness to still show through.

Then to give the impression of faded material I did a two highlights of a white and purple mix, with a heavier than usual amount of white. The whole thing was then washed with Agrax Earthshade ink.

The idea of all of the Goblins surronding and overrunning the Skaven sounds a fun idea. Out-hoarding a Skaven horde!
I was discussing with Justin that next year at some point the two of us could stage a battle with all all my Goblins attacking all of his (and maybe mine) Wood Elves. For the time being it will be Slann vs Wood Elves, although a bigger battle between these two armies is'nt out of the question (10,000 points maybe?) Speaking of eye catching, it would be amazing to some day see this horde face-off against your beautiful Goblin force - all of them. I'm fantasizing about a battle which would find your Skaven army trapped in the middle of a large table surrounded by your entire Goblin collection who are about to attack from every side at once. Oh yeah! Although, I'll also look forward to your next game against Justin's Elves as well. private w.https://www.blogger.com/profile/13382664057092304789noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4266200265116124990.post-35856283627581747072014-11-25T20:03:11.018+00:002014-11-25T20:03:11.018+00:00Thank you,
