However, as all the character miniatures except Hagar (who was unique to the scenario) were the new slotta based C15 range, so it was likely that early mail orders would have been from that range, sculpted by the Perry Twins, with the last batch being sculpted by Kev Adams in 1986.
I don't think GW were still supplying pre slotta miniatures by then, although they still had stock of them, and some pre slotta ranges could be mailed ordered until about 1986, with some of the pre slotta Regiments of Renown, including the old version of Harboths, made it into mid 1987 as part of Mail Order sales.

Concerning Harboths, it depends which version you have. If his mail order was a lot later than 1985, then GW might have honoured the deal by adding whatever Orcs they had to hand. By 1987 more of the later 1980s Orc ranges designed by Kevin Adams were bring released, including the new version of Harboth's Orc with bows and slotta bases. An example of this was when sent off for the Slann army deal for the Magnificent Sven offer in 1987, but by them they no longer produced the miniatures from the release sheet, and so sent me a big box of Slann from the 1986 released C32 range.
Hope this helps.
Goblin Leehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14931436821182962785noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4266200265116124990.post-33935933566152801162024-02-18T18:58:53.733+00:002024-02-18T18:58:53.733+00:00So inspiring. Regarding the Orc'...Nice to see them painted up. Regarding the Orc's Drift scenario, I would love to know what the army deal actually consisted of. I bought a lot of orcs from ebay that contained all the named orc characters including Hagar but came with Harboth's orcs, not C15 orcs, and the seller said they purchased them direct from GW mailorder at the time.ADhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03977992374588509449noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4266200265116124990.post-32468064920727206422024-02-14T19:03:57.811+00:002024-02-14T19:03:57.811+00:00Thank you. Thank you, I am glad you like the Orcs.
You're correct, the very early background to the Dwarfs does suggest a different society to the later Warhammer versions. I think that this is because at this stage of development, Warhammer was open to a lot of different approaches to background, often inspired and conceived by gamers and designers themselves rather than centrally controlled, something mentioned in the preface to the 'Book of Battalions' supplement. The preface states that the army lists are derived from Warhammer players armies in and around the East Midlands area of England.
One of the entries for the Dwarfs concerning a Dwarf Wizard (something which was a part of 1st/2nd/3rd Edition armies) reads:
"Kester Earthwhite has been a practicing horse doctor for only 2 weeks and 3 days when he was rafted into the army as a Novice Wizard".
The was a lot more freedom and humour in the earlier edition of Warhammer.Goblin Leehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14931436821182962785noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4266200265116124990.post-92223478033941227402024-01-23T07:09:32.324+00:002024-01-23T07:09:32.324+00:00Beautiful work on the wyverns, which look more lik...Beautiful work on the wyverns, which look more like pterodactyls than dragons like in the most recent versions of Citadel. So you did very well to paint them with a colour other than green, which also offers an excellent contrast with the orc skin.
We are surprised by the information on conscripted dwarves, which seems to indicate a society very different from that described in the later editions of Warhammer. As you implied, perhaps it is more inspired by the historical past than by the lore created by Tolkien.Rodorhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12792645011290022106noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4266200265116124990.post-8894654795663940102024-01-22T10:33:25.869+00:002024-01-22T10:33:25.869+00:00Thank you Suber, I am having fun painting and basi...Thank you Suber, I am having fun painting and basing them on the regimental bases.
