A short update of some more Slann.
These are a regiment of Slann comprised of the the 'Mixtecas' miniature from the 1987 C32 Slann release in White Dwarf #96, the same issue as the 'Slann 'O War' article. They represent a Slann Jungle Braves regiment, Slann Levy.
I painted them with a space/galaxy theme to suggest some astronomical connection to the Old Slann civilisation. I used the same painting technique as people used to paint galaxy themed shoes/boots a few years ago. It was fun and I think it looks quite unusual and very much some Slann weirdness. I painted the Slann skin slightly differently as well, base coating the skin with a turquoise, then highlighting it with a mix of white and turquoise, before a final highlight of a light green.
Enjoy :)
Super additions to your Slann forces, they look great.
ReplyDeleteThank you. I like Jungle braves in the army as they are cheaper in points than a lot of other things in the Slann army, and so can bulk out the army a little more. You can also have fun with some different skin tones.
DeleteGreat work again 👏
ReplyDeleteThank you, I enjoyed painting them and trying out the shield idea.
DeleteReally nicely done.
ReplyDeleteThank you, glad you liked them.
DeleteNice looking unit and one of my favourite Slann minis
ReplyDeleteThank you. I like this Slann miniature as well, I love the face and big eyes. I am pleased to have collected a whole regiment of the over the years. I have also added a few to bulk out my second Eagle Warrior regiment.
DeleteThat's bold and original, I love it!
ReplyDeleteThank you Suber. I like the idea of these Slann being a remnant of perhaps an Old Slann population based around an old lost spaceport, who still have a spiritual attachment to the stars, but now reduced to being a backwoods (well Jungle) tribe.
