Orcs  (and an inferior Dwarf).

My plan for working out 3,000 point armies is going well. I am sorting out miniatures and writing up draft lists and prioritising what needs painting, and what else, if anything, that needs buying.

In that spirit here is a draft 3,000 point army list, and some of the 1980's Orc Warriors that I have sorted out and tidying up /modernised the paintwork (and a Dwarf with an Inferiority complex with Snotling saw master).

 The first regiment
 The second regiment
The Orc on the left is an old solid based C16 Orc that has the same sheild as the  FA9-2 Barbarian with Two-Handed Sword.
The centre Orc Leader was orginally a limited edition, I really like the sculpted maw armour. The Orc on the right is a C15 Armoured Orc.
3 more Orcs, the centre orc is a solid based female orc.
 Spear armed Orcs !
A spear armed orc, C15 Manic orc, and Aardbod the Nasty of the Orc releases from the Goblin Battle Chariot release sheet.
More orcs, with C15 Orc call Tizog on the left, a champion from the Command sets centre, and what I think was another Orc Champion from the ORC1 or ORC4  range.
Command set Drummer; Orc Variant from the ADD53 Orcs; C15 Armoured Orc Bungerbol.
On the left is an Orc Leader from the Command sets.
Centre is one of the boar riders that I long ago sculpted a face onto the oval plastic shield. I use him as the regiment leader.  On the right is a C15 Armoured Orc called Brugzod.
 Three spear wielding Orcs.
Three more Orcs, including another dismounted Boar rider centre named 'Axe Hacker'.
Orc in rusty looking armour and with an old Citadel metal Sheild. The other two are a Standard Bearer and Champion from the Orc Command Group range.
3 more solid based C15 Armoured Orcs.
A variant C15 Armoured Orc, a C16 Orc, both solid based, and another drummer from the Orc Command sets of the later 1980's .
Left is a C16 Orc Chieftain,  right is a C15 Armoured Orc again. The centre orc is a slotta variant of  an ORC4 Champion miniature. Given time I might be able to locate his name in an old White Dwarf.
The painting table full of WIP !
On there are another 50 Orcs in need of tinkering (I have been adding better highlights, including to the Orc flesh using Vallejo Lime green and white), 20 Orc Archers, Man-mangler and crew, and a couple of Wyverns at the start of a total repaint. I need to paint the Skull crushers. Unsuprisingly I have many enough Goblins already painted for the army list !
LE25 Dwarf with Inferiority Complex. Painted him up whilst waiting for Orcs to dry....
... and the Snotling Saw Master.
And finally the Ral Partha Orc War Machine. I bought it unassembled and second hand back in the 1990's, but it never had the big skull on the front that comes with it.
Front (skull-less !!) view. I might use this as another Man-Mangler stand-in if I use a larger point Orc army.

  1. What a marvellous mob of Orcs, Goblin Lee! I'm excited to see the whole army together...Perhaps the whole army together as it marches off to a battle with your Slann!! (Hope, hope.)

    1. I'll see what I can do for the next post, I should be able to get the Wyverns and odds and ends painted by Sunday.
Unfortunately I don't have a big enough space at the moment to have the Slann facing off against the Orcs, but I'll see if I can borrow a table or rig something up. :)

    1. Thank you,
they are fun to paint, characterful and worth going back to do. I painted up some chaos dwarves earlier on the blog too.

I'm on the look out for a skull for the rocklobber, although it's not a high priority.
